Cleveland Clinic is widely known and recognized for outstanding cardiovascular care.
U.S. News & World Report has ranked the Cleveland Clinic number one for cardiology and heart surgery since 1995. We have operated a high-volume cardiac program, with the nation’s highest case-mix index, at peak capacity for almost 50 years. Despite our success and recognition, our physicians and staff continually explore opportunities to improve outcomes and lower costs. In the process, we’ve become experts in clinical challenges, operational fitness, quality, purchasing, personnel – and every detail of running a world-class cardiovascular program.
Starting with our first affiliation in 1995, Cleveland Clinic has steadily improved outcomes while successfully lowering costs at dozens of hospitals across the country. Now, through our Advisory Services, we’d like to share that experience with you.
We can help you meet your clinical and operational needs. Our experienced physicians and administrators will visit your site, evaluate your program, develop plans for programmatic improvement, advise and answer your questions. We can help you with data collection, reporting, auditing and review. We have performance metrics to evaluate and improve quality, safety and compliance that can be applied to any cardiovascular program.
As part of our ongoing relationship, we provide monthly data management support as well as task force meetings with Cleveland Clinic physicians. Our specialists are available for physician-to-physician consultations on high-risk cases and for clinical guidance, as needed. Our support team provides comparative feedback on key national performance indicators to assist you with improving your institution’s ratings. We have helped many affiliates with program development, including new clinical programs such as TAVR, as well as operational programs such as appropriateness reviews. Our physician team travels to each affiliate for Grand Rounds and hosts an annual affiliate retreat at Cleveland Clinic.
The data management and outcomes reporting metrics our affiliates use are the same that we use internally at Cleveland Clinic hospitals. Cleveland Clinic has pioneered the collection and annual publication of outcomes data, including clinical outcomes, patient volumes, innovations and publications — leading the field in transparency. Where standards exist, we measure ourselves against them. Where standards don’t exist, we measure our performance against ourselves to reinforce continuous improvement. Since 1994, we have published our outcomes for heart surgery, made them available on our website and distributed them to thousands of physicians across the country. On an annual basis, our team will publish a quality outcomes book for your co-branded service line and our physician team will travel to your hospital to present the outcomes to leadership and invited guests.
